Three things stuck. Two of them surprised me.
Went to a talk last week on what makes a craftsperson, vs. someone who happens to be good at the same job. Three things stuck.
- Craftspeople finish things. Even the small ones. Especially the small ones.
- They have a complicated relationship with their tools. Loving them is not enough.
- They can describe, in detail, the last mistake they made.
The third one surprised me. I've been keeping a "mistake log" since. It's the most useful page in this notebook.
